A man aged 51 passed away on a Cathay Pacific flight traveling from Manchester to Hong Kong. The incident occurred during flight CX216, which took off from Manchester Airport at 11.04am BST and landed at Hong Kong International Airport at 6.53am HKT the following day. Authorities in Hong Kong were alerted by air traffic control around 6.15am regarding a passenger collapsing onboard.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death. The deceased, identified as Mr. Chen in local reports, was reportedly an insurance broker who had relocated to the UK with his family. He had been battling cancer since last year and frequently traveled between Hong Kong and the UK for medical treatments and business purposes.
According to reports, Mr. Chen informed his wife of feeling unwell during the flight, and she regularly checked on him. Approximately two hours before landing, she noticed his unresponsiveness. Hong Kong’s flag carrier mentioned that the onboard crew, along with a doctor, administered immediate first aid to the passenger. An ambulance was summoned, and paramedics boarded the aircraft upon arrival.
