Disney+ has announced a temporary discount on its subscription fees to compete with Netflix and HBO Max. The reduced price of £3.99 per month for three months is available to both new and eligible returning customers. This special offer marks a significant drop from the standard £5.99 per month for the tier with ads, effectively allowing subscribers to enjoy three months for the price of two. To take advantage of this deal, individuals need to sign up for Disney+ by May 6.
By subscribing before the deadline, customers can secure the £3.99 monthly rate for three months, making Disney+ the most budget-friendly option among major streaming services when compared to the basic plans of Netflix (£5.99), Prime Video (£5.99), HBO Max (£4.99), and Apple TV (£9.99).
After the promotional period, the subscription will automatically renew at the regular rate of £5.99 per month unless canceled. The £3.99 offer is applicable to customers aged 18 and above for an ad-supported plan, with the option to upgrade to the ad-free Disney+ Standard for £6.99 (down from £9.99) or Disney+ Premium for £9.99 (reduced from £14.99).
The more expensive subscriptions offer additional benefits, such as enhanced picture quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, support for Dolby Atmos, and the ability to stream on up to four devices simultaneously. Additionally, Sky has started offering a complimentary Disney+ subscription with its revamped Ultimate TV bundle, which also includes Netflix and HBO Max.
The starting price for a Disney+ subscription is now £5.99 per month, providing access to popular series like Rivals, Only Murders in the Building, and The Bear, along with a vast array of content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and other franchises. This package, priced at £24 per month, includes free streaming subscriptions valued at around £240 annually, as well as access to 135 channels such as Sky Atlantic. Disney+ is preparing for the upcoming second season of Rivals, starring David Tennant, which debuted successfully last year.
The new season of Rivals will premiere in two six-episode batches, commencing with a three-episode launch on May 15. It joins a lineup of recent releases including The Testaments, a dystopian drama set in the aftermath of The Handmaid’s Tale, and the second part of the conspiracy-thriller Paradise.
Several fan-favorite shows have made a return this year, such as Scrubs and Malcolm in the Middle, both launching on Disney+ with revival series after extended hiatuses. These series are accompanied by a plethora of movies and shows from Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar, including Daredevil: Born Again and Maul – Shadow Lord.
Reality TV enthusiasts can enjoy programs like Raising Chelsea, following Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo as they navigate parenthood. Disney+ has become synonymous with globally popular franchises and has garnered numerous positive reviews on Trustpilot.
Customers have praised Disney+ for its vast content library catering to various preferences. While some users appreciate the quality and affordability, others have expressed concerns about the frequency of ads during streaming sessions. Nonetheless, the platform’s easy navigation, friendly customer support, and transparent cancellation process have earned it high ratings from satisfied users.
