Outspoken Strictly judge, Craig Revel Horwood, made a surprising comparison between himself and the late Beatles legend, John Lennon, during a candid discussion with fans. He expressed reluctance to join Dancing With The Stars in the US, citing concerns about potential harm from an obsessed fan, similar to Lennon’s tragic assassination in 1980.
Craig, aged 61, humorously remarked that he believed he might meet a similar fate as Lennon if he were to participate in Dancing With The Stars due to the prevalence of firearms in the US. These remarks were disclosed at the launch event for his new show, Revelations – Songs Boys Don’t Sing, held at Chequer Mead Theatre in East Grinstead.
Revealing that he was offered a role on Dancing With The Stars previously, Craig explained his decision to decline the opportunity. He emphasized his thriving career as a stage director and choreographer, expressing gratitude for not compromising his artistic pursuits for a television gig.
Known for his controversial statements, Craig credited BBC license fee payers for his affluent lifestyle and luxurious property in Northamptonshire. Despite earning a substantial income from Strictly, he humorously acknowledged his reputation as the show’s villain, embracing the role’s perks in theatrical productions.
Craig shared his frustration about the expenses of renovating his mansion, which led to postponing his wedding plans with fiancé Jonathan Myring. Reflecting on past controversies, he recounted a clash with a disgruntled contestant’s husband, highlighting the challenges of his public persona.
Expressing admiration for notable Strictly contestants, Craig praised various celebrities for their performances on the show. As he anticipates the return of Strictly with new hosts, Craig looks forward to showcasing his one-man show on tour until June.
In addition to his touring commitments, Craig revealed his upcoming projects, including his involvement in the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars and work on a new musical production. Despite delays in his personal life, Craig remains optimistic about his future endeavors and potential marriage plans.
