“Trump: US Can Manage Without Strait of Hormuz, Emphasizes Assistance to Allies”

Published:

During his visit to China, Donald Trump stated that the United States could manage without the Strait of Hormuz being open, attributing American military actions in the region to assisting other nations. Trump’s remarks, made in an interview with Fox News, emphasized that the US did not require access to the strait, mentioning it as a service to countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia, and others.

While the discussions between Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping appeared smooth, reports indicated tensions between US personnel and Chinese officials behind the scenes. Trump expressed alignment with China on the Iran conflict, highlighting the mutual desire to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Following his departure from Beijing, Trump emphasized the importance of resolving the Iran issue and ensuring the strait’s accessibility. He mentioned the agreement reached with Xi Jinping on various matters, emphasizing the shared goals concerning Iran and the strait.

Trump acknowledged China’s interest in the Strait of Hormuz remaining open, indicating Xi’s willingness to support efforts to resolve the situation. Additionally, Trump highlighted the presence of prominent business leaders during his visit and their focus on striking deals to benefit both countries.

In response to Xi’s comments about the US as a “declining nation,” Trump defended his administration’s actions and accomplishments, asserting a positive relationship with Xi. Despite differing views on certain issues, including Taiwan, the two leaders engaged in discussions addressing various topics of importance to both countries.
