Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt concern. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where the second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has reported one potential injury associated with the recall but no fatalities.
The recall involves 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Affected vehicle owners will receive notifications to contact dealers for inspection appointments. Dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
