“Measles Warning at Newark Airport and NJ Hospital”

Published:

Travelers passing through a bustling airport have been alerted about potential exposure to measles. Health authorities in New Jersey have issued a warning after a person was diagnosed with the highly contagious disease following international travel through Newark Liberty International Airport. Individuals who were at Terminal B of Newark Liberty between 5:30 am and 9:00 am on April 14 may have been exposed to measles, as reported by CBS News.

Additionally, officials have raised concerns about a possible exposure at the Hackensack University Medical Center pediatric emergency department on April 18. Common symptoms of measles include a high fever, coughing, sneezing, red and watery eyes, and a rash. Those exposed to the virus may develop symptoms as late as May 11.

No other cases related to this incident have been reported thus far. Measles can spread through the air or via infected mucus or saliva, remaining airborne for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area. The most effective way to guard against measles and its complications is through vaccination with the MMR vaccine.

In a separate development, parents in the UK are being urged to verify their children’s vaccination records due to the ongoing measles outbreak across the country. The UK Health Security Agency has issued a warning emphasizing the importance of vaccination amid concerns over declining immunization rates.

Recent data shows that England has confirmed approximately 235 measles cases in the early months of 2026, with infections reported in all regions of the country. Stay informed with the latest news by selecting Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News.
