Police apprehended a man accused of sexually assaulting a female British tourist and violently robbing an elderly UK couple on the same day. The alleged attacker reportedly used a martial arts technique known as a rear naked choke, leaving the woman partially unconscious in a secluded area in Tenerife. The suspect had offered to assist the woman after she lost her phone before launching the surprise assault, according to a spokesperson from Spain’s National Police.
On the same day as the reported assault, the suspect purportedly targeted an 89-year-old British man and his 79-year-old wife, assaulting them with physical blows. Both victims required hospitalization following the attacks. Additionally, the suspect has been connected to another incident involving a Swedish tourist who was violently assaulted and robbed of her necklace a few days earlier.
The Spanish National Police announced the arrest of the suspect, linking him to a sexual assault and two violent robberies in southern Tenerife. The initial assault occurred in late March in Las Veronicas, with the victim providing crucial images of the suspect to aid the investigation. Authorities were also investigating two other violent robbery cases in the Arona municipality, noting similarities in the incidents and the suspect’s description.
In one of the robbery incidents involving an elderly couple, the suspect attempted to steal a watch, leading to a physical altercation that ended with the assailant taking the victims’ shopping bag. A witness captured a photo of the suspect, aiding in his arrest on March 27.
