“Joshua’s Driver Faces Charges in Fatal Crash”

Published:

Anthony Joshua’s driver faces charges of reckless and dangerous driving following a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two close friends of the boxer. Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was behind the wheel of a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua, Latif Ayodele, and Sina Ghami when it collided with a parked truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Kayode was treated at a Lagos hospital and then transferred to Abeokuta, where he was questioned by authorities and later charged by the Sagamu Magistrate Court.

The police have charged Kayode with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid license. The case has been adjourned until January 20. Joshua, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, has been discharged from the hospital and paid respects to Ghami and Ayodele at a funeral home. The initial investigation suggests that the accident was caused by a tire blowout due to speeding.

The truck involved in the crash was found to have been illegally parked before the incident. Tributes poured in for the deceased, with Eddie Hearn, Chris Eubank Jr, and others expressing their condolences. Joshua’s future fights, including a potential match with Tyson Fury, may be affected by the tragic event. The boxing community mourns the loss of Ghami and Ayodele, who were integral members of Joshua’s team for many years.
