Published:

The sibling of a 29-year-old woman who fell victim to a violent roadside assault in Ireland has tragically passed away as well.

Jason, the brother of Scarlett Faulkner, breathed his last over the weekend, just two days after participating in his sister’s funeral in Limerick. Melissa McCarthy, his cousin, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, urging prayers for the grieving Faulkner family.

Expressing her sorrow, Melissa reminisced about the fond memories with Jason and mourned the loss of both siblings. The family has been overwhelmed by the consecutive tragedies, with one relative highlighting the immense pain they are enduring.

Friends and sympathizers continue to pay tribute to Jason, acknowledging the unbearable loss and offering condolences to the bereaved family. The community is rallying around the Faulkner family, acknowledging the profound grief they are experiencing.

Scarlett, hailing from Limerick, had been fighting for her life at Cork University Hospital for three weeks following a vicious attack on the R494 near Birdhill on March 21. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries on April 13.

During Scarlett’s funeral, her sister Victoria spoke lovingly of her as a cherished daughter, sister, and mother to her daughter Oceanna. The Faulkner family described Scarlett as a beloved member of the Traveller community in Limerick.

Authorities have charged a woman and a 16-year-old girl in connection with Scarlett’s assault, though the motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear. The police are actively investigating the incident, urging anyone with information to come forward for assistance in resolving the case.
