“Family of Seven Found Dead: Three Suspects Apprehended”

Published:

Seven members of a single family were discovered deceased after purported abductions and killings. Law enforcement authorities have apprehended three individuals on charges such as sexual assault and homicide following the abduction of the seven family members from their residence in Newark, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, leading to their execution in Melmoth.

The suspects, aged 21, 26, and 28, are set to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Friday following the events that occurred on April 21 at a property in Newtown, Newark. Upon a domestic worker’s arrival the next morning, a broken-into home and the absence of seven family members, along with a vehicle, were discovered.

Promptly notified, Newark police initiated an extensive search involving various law enforcement units and private security collaborators. The suspects guided the authorities to Melmoth on Wednesday, where the remains of the seven victims, ranging from 20 to 83 years old, were located.

Allegedly, after entering the residence, the victims were bound with rope, and a 20-year-old woman was subjected to sexual assault. The perpetrators then transported the family, using their own vehicle, to Melmoth, approximately 200km away.

It is reported that the suspects coerced three victims for their bank information before fatally shooting them, while the other four family members were fatally stabbed.

A statement from the South African Police stated: “Information indicates that a domestic worker employed by the victims arrived at the residence on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026, to find the house burgled, with seven individuals and a vehicle missing. Newark police were alerted, prompting the activation of various police units.”

“The swift investigations led to the Hlomendlini area, where two suspects were detained on Wednesday afternoon. One suspect was in possession of a cellphone belonging to one of the abducted victims.”

“Further information directed the investigations to the Dendetu area in Sundumbili, where the third suspect was apprehended with a firearm. The suspects were found with a total of 11 cellphones.”

Additionally, the police disclosed that one of the suspects had been an employee of the deceased family. Bank transfers were made from the victims’ accounts during the evening of Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Reportedly, the same suspect who committed the initial assault at the house repeated the assault in Melmoth, demanding banking details and PINs from three victims. Subsequently, after collecting the information, the suspects proceeded to shoot three victims and stab the remaining four to death.
