The Montreal Roses made a significant decision the day after being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, announced the dismissal in a news release on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of letting go of a coach, Pichon emphasized the need for a new direction to navigate the remainder of the season and propel the club’s growth. The Roses are currently holding the second spot in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points and have 10 more matches in their regular season.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. As the club seeks a permanent replacement for Rositoiu, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
