A murder trial related to the killing of renowned hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur commenced with jury selection for a former gang member, nearly three decades after the artist’s tragic death. Duane (Keffe D) Davis, aged 63, is accused of murder with a deadly weapon linked to a criminal gang’s involvement in Shakur’s 1996 demise. Despite being in custody since 2023, Davis has maintained his plea of not guilty. The trial, situated in Las Vegas where the incident occurred, initiated with the jury selection process and is anticipated to span around a month.

Knight, the sole surviving witness to the event, declared his refusal to cooperate with law enforcement or provide testimony. Presently serving a prison sentence for unrelated charges, Knight’s involvement in the trial remains uncertain.
The tragic night of the shooting unfolded as Shakur and Knight attended a boxing match in Las Vegas featuring Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon. Following the event, the pair drove around the city in a BMW owned by Death Row. Subsequently, a Cadillac approached their vehicle at around 11:15 p.m., discharging gunfire that critically wounded Shakur and injured Knight. Despite attempts to seek medical aid, Shakur succumbed to his injuries six days later.
