Sky has introduced two new smart home plans featuring internet-connected cameras and full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, providing consumers with an alternative to popular home security devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. This pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving over £100.
The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, with an additional £15 upfront fee. It offers features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking more comprehensive security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, Paul Sweeney, emphasized that the goal of Sky Smart Home is to make high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. These new plans expand the availability of Sky’s home security devices, previously bundled with Protect Smart Home Insurance, now offered as standalone services for the first time.
Comparatively, Amazon sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording would require a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month. Sky’s competitive pricing and feature-rich plans aim to provide consumers with affordable and convenient home security options.
