EE has upgraded its broadband services, surpassing competitors like Sky and Virgin Media. The company now includes Smart Hub 7 Plus routers with all broadband packages, featuring WiFi 7 technology for faster speeds and better coverage.
WiFi 7 offers speeds up to 46 Gbps, lower latency, and higher capacity than Wi-Fi 6/6E, making it ideal for gaming and high-quality downloads like 4K content. EE’s broadband plans start at £28.99 per month for a 24-month contract, reaching up to £39.99 for 900 Mbps packages. Sky provides the new WiFi 7 hub with gigabit broadband, while Virgin Media has yet to offer a WiFi 7 router.
Despite EE’s leading position among UK internet providers, not all devices are compatible with WiFi 7, and its range may not suit larger households. Nevertheless, EE’s Smart Hub 7 Plus and advanced services cater to gaming and streaming needs, offering up to £300 in exit fees for new customers switching to EE.
Uswitch praised EE broadband for its strong, reliable service but noted that other providers might offer better value for basic internet needs or bundled TV packages. However, EE stands out for its customer service and reliability, making it a preferred choice for those willing to invest slightly more for a premium experience.
