UK Government Condemns Trump’s Aggressive Rhetoric Toward Iran

Published:

The UK government has distanced itself from the aggressive language used by former US President Donald Trump during his recent outburst towards the Iranian regime on Easter Sunday. In a series of inflammatory remarks on his Truth Social platform, Trump demanded the opening of the Strait, using profanity and threats against Iran. Responding to Trump’s comments, Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson emphasized that such language is not in line with the UK government’s approach.

Phillipson clarified that the UK government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, is focused on defensive support for allies in the region rather than engaging in offensive actions. She highlighted the significant contributions of RAF pilots in safeguarding the skies by intercepting drones, reinforcing the defensive stance of the UK.

Dame Emily Thornberry, chair of the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, criticized Trump’s disregard for international law and morality, pointing out that attacking civilian infrastructure is both immoral and illegal under international conventions. Thornberry highlighted the importance of upholding the rule of law in all circumstances.

Trump’s recent threats came shortly after US-Israeli airstrikes targeted Iran’s tallest bridge, resulting in casualties and destruction. The B1 bridge, a vital link between Iran’s capital and Karaj, was hit in multiple strikes following Trump’s aggressive rhetoric. The attacks occurred while rescue operations were underway, further escalating tensions in the region.
