“UK Fuel Prices Soar Amid Iran Conflict, New Map Reveals Best Deals”

Published:

Fuel prices in the UK are on the rise due to concerns about the impact of the Iran war on costs. A new interactive map has been released, detailing average prices per region and identifying the most economical fueling stations nearby.

The price of crude oil has surpassed $100 per barrel as the US and Israeli actions against Iran continue to unsettle global markets. Petrol prices in the UK have now climbed to 137p per liter, up nearly 6p since the conflict started nine days ago.

Experts caution that if crude oil prices remain high, British drivers can anticipate further hikes in fuel costs. The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit has pointed out that sustained oil trading at $100 a barrel could push petrol prices to around 150p per liter, and reaching $120 a barrel could see prices soar to about 170p per liter in the UK.

Across the UK, fuel prices differ significantly depending on the location of the petrol station. Northern Ireland boasts notably lower prices than the national average, with Belfast stations offering standard unleaded at an average of 125.8p per liter.

The priciest places to refuel are North Warwickshire, Maidstone, Breckland, and Brentwood, where petrol averages above 141p per liter. However, each of these areas has cheaper options available that align more closely with the national average.

For the most cost-effective refueling option in the UK, head to an ASDA garage in County Durham. By filling up there, drivers of average family cars can save up to £24 compared to the most expensive station. At South Church Road, County Durham, the price is set at 127.7p per liter, totaling £70 to fill a typical 55-liter tank.

Conversely, the highest-priced station in the UK is an ASDA outlet on the M74 Southbound, South Lanarkshire, where standard petrol is priced at 171.9p per liter, costing £95 to fill up an average family car.

Diesel prices have surged faster than unleaded petrol, up about 9p per liter since the onset of the Iran war. The most economical station for diesel vehicles is an ASDA garage in Kingswood, Hull, offering standard diesel at 134.9p per liter.

These prices are accurate as of Monday, March 9th, 2026, at 4:45 am.
