“Counter Terror Probe Initiated After Synagogue Firebombing”

Published:

Counter terror officers are spearheading the inquiry following an alleged “firebombing” at a synagogue last night. The incident occurred at Kenton United Synagogue in Harrow on Saturday night, resulting in minor smoke damage to an internal room. Fortunately, there were no injuries or significant structural damage reported, according to the Community Security Trust (CST).

The synagogue, located near a school and children’s playground, saw police inspecting a black SUV in close proximity on Sunday morning. A significant cordon has been established at the site, with a forensics officer, fire investigation dogs, and several plainclothes officers actively working. Additionally, one marked and five unmarked police cars were stationed outside the place of worship.

This incident follows a series of arson or attempted arson attacks targeted at Jewish properties in north-west London over the past month. The Metropolitan Police, conducting deterrence and reassurance patrols in response to recent events, discovered damage to a synagogue window around midnight last night. Upon closer examination, evidence of smoke inside a room and a bottle with an accelerant thrown through the window were found.

The CST, an organization dedicated to monitoring antisemitism and safeguarding Jewish communities in the UK, acknowledged another attempted arson at a synagogue in north London. They commended the swift response of the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade in protecting the Jewish community during these challenging times.

Expressing gratitude to the authorities, the CST spokesperson emphasized cooperation with the police in identifying the culprits. They urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately. A spokesperson from the Campaign Against Antisemitism highlighted the firebombing at the Kenton synagogue, noting the limited damage and expressing concern over the increasing frequency of arson attacks on the Jewish community.
