A former contestant from the X Factor show has been arrested on charges of attempted murder following an incident where a vehicle struck pedestrians, resulting in severe injuries to one woman.
According to the Metropolitan Police, a woman in her 30s is in critical condition, and a man in his 50s sustained life-altering injuries after being hit by a car in Westminster early on Sunday. Another woman in her 30s suffered minor injuries in the same incident.
The accused, Gabrielle Carrington, 29, hailing from Manchester, faces charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and driving under the influence, as announced by the police.
Carrington rose to fame as part of the girl group Miss Dynamix during the X Factor live finals in 2013. She has since transitioned into a career as an influencer under the name RielleUK.
Initially gaining recognition as a teenager competing in X Factor with Miss Dynamix, Carrington and her group were eliminated in Week 3 after performing ‘Don’t You Worry Child’ by Swedish House Mafia.
Following the disbandment of Miss Dynamix in 2014, Carrington extended her career into the realm of social media influencing, amassing a substantial following on platforms like Instagram where she shares glimpses of her luxurious travel experiences and promotes her haircare products.
Carrington’s recent social media post from a trip to Mykonos features the caption “Prettiest problem.”
The legal charges against Carrington stem from an incident outside a nightclub in Soho that resulted in injuries to three individuals.
The collision occurred around 4:30 am on Sunday on Argyll Street near the Inca nightclub when a vehicle struck pedestrians, including two women and a man in his 50s. One of the women, in her 30s, remains in critical condition, while the man sustained significant injuries and was hospitalized. The third person, a woman in her 30s, received treatment for minor injuries.
Carrington is currently in custody awaiting her court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, facing charges of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, and driving under the influence.
