“Wren Kitchens Shuts Down All US Stores Amid Bankruptcy”

Published:

Wren Kitchens has made a sudden decision to close all 15 of its stores following its recent filing for bankruptcy liquidation. This move has resulted in all staff members at these locations losing their jobs as the British company exits the US market.

The leading fitted kitchen retailer in the UK has shut down its East Coast US showrooms and Wren Kitchen Studios within Home Depot stores. These closures come after the company initiated Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings in the US on April 24.

In response to the closures, Home Depot stated that Wren Kitchens ceased operations in the United States, including shutting down their showrooms within Home Depot stores. The closure caught Home Depot off guard, and they are now assessing the impact on Wren’s customers to provide assistance for any queries or issues.

Wren explained that the decision to withdraw from the US market was made after careful consideration to concentrate on bolstering their core UK business, which is showing substantial growth. The US business, as a distinct legal entity from the UK operations, contributed around 4% to the Group’s total turnover but faced challenges in expanding its retail presence in the US market.

Mark Pullan, Wren’s CEO, expressed regret over the impact on US colleagues and customers due to this decision. The focus now shifts to strengthening the UK business, which has been performing well, reaching a £1 billion turnover milestone and achieving solid profits despite market challenges.

While uncertainties persist, particularly related to geopolitical factors, Wren remains confident in its business strength. The company plans to intensify its store expansion program in the UK, including opening 15 new showrooms and introducing new product categories.

Wren also posted a message on its website informing customers of the closures and directing them to seek assistance through a provided form. The family-run business, operating as Wren US Holdings Inc., filed for bankruptcy in the US, listing assets between $100 million and $500 million.

Reports indicate that staff at Wren’s outlets were blindsided by the closures, leaving many customers in a state of uncertainty regarding potential refunds for payments made. Some customers are facing challenges with outstanding kitchen orders that were already paid for in full. As of early 2026, Wren Kitchens had over 110 showrooms across the UK.

Despite the setbacks in the US market, Wren Kitchens, known as the nation’s top kitchen retailer, had been witnessing significant growth and had ambitious plans to expand its reach across major towns and cities in the UK.
