“Virgin Media Dominates UK Broadband Speeds: New Service Reveals”

Broadband has become a crucial aspect of daily life, supporting various activities like streaming entertainment, remote work, home security through smart devices, and more. A new broadband speed-testing service called SpeedGo reveals disparities among internet service providers (ISPs) in terms of performance. According to SpeedGo’s data, Virgin Media leads the UK in average download speeds, reaching an impressive 256.5Mbps, making tasks like downloading a full HD movie in just over two minutes significantly faster than the national average.

Following Virgin Media, Vodafone secures the second spot with average download speeds of 175Mbps, trailed by BT (EE). TalkTalk lags behind in the rankings with an average speed of slightly below 95Mbps.

Here is the breakdown of average download speeds across different ISPs in the UK:

– Virgin Media: 256.5Mbps

– Vodafone: 175.1Mbps

– BT (EE): 122.5Mbps

– Sky Broadband: 113.6Mbps

– TalkTalk: 94.7Mbps

SpeedGo’s analysis also highlights upload speeds, which are crucial for users who frequently send large files or work remotely. Vodafone leads in this category with an average upload speed of 83.6Mbps, surpassing Virgin Media, which ranks second with 47.2Mbps.

SpeedGo confirms these results, emphasizing that in 2025, Virgin Media provided the fastest broadband internet in the United Kingdom with an average download speed of 256.5Mbps, while Vodafone achieved the highest average upload speed at 83.6Mbps.
