Several Taylor Swift songs have been excluded from social media videos shared by the campaign of U.S. President Donald Trump and the White House. These entities had utilized two of the popular American singer’s tracks in the past week.
Upon request for comment, both the White House and a representative for Swift did not provide immediate responses.
Although Swift has not recently addressed Trump directly, she publicly endorsed his Democratic opponent, then-Vice President Kamala Harris, in the 2024 election. During the 2020 campaign, Swift made it clear on social media that Trump was not wanted as the president.
Trump has frequently criticized Swift. After her endorsement of Harris, the Republican leader expressed his disdain for Swift on social media by stating, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He also made remarks about her appearance following his statement of dislike.
Various artists, such as Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, have also urged the Trump administration to refrain from featuring their music.
TikTok Videos Incorporate Famous Swift Tracks
Over the past week, the Trump campaign showcased two Taylor Swift songs on its TikTok platform. One video, inspired by her lyrics, featured a caption referencing popular songs by the artist, such as “Red (Donald Trump’s Version).”
In June, Trump’s campaign uploaded a TikTok video containing Swift’s new track from the fictitious Toy Story 5 movie, titled I Knew It, I Knew You. The video was accompanied by a caption asserting the president’s love for the country and its people. It depicted Trump engaging with children at the White House, dancing at a UFC event, and participating in a rally.
This incident marked the third time in recent months that the Trump administration or his campaign had utilized Taylor Swift’s songs.
