“Sky Unveils Game-Changing Update for Glass TVs”

Published:

Sky has released a significant update for its popular Glass TVs and Stream boxes, available for free to existing users. This latest upgrade brings various new features, such as the capability to manage Sky’s internet-connected devices through a smartphone and set reminders for programs listed in the TV guide.

The update includes a more user-friendly settings menu for improved navigation and introduces new accessibility options like enhanced contrast controls for text and backgrounds within Sky applications. Describing the enhancements, the company stated, “Sky’s continually evolving operating system, Sky OS, has been enhanced to provide more intelligent ways for Sky Glass and Stream customers to control their television.”

Owners of Sky Glass TVs, Sky Glass Air devices, or Sky Stream boxes can expect these features to be automatically added without the need for any manual adjustments. The update is already on its way to compatible devices.

Notable features now accessible on the TV include the ability to set reminders for favorite shows. These reminders are now available on all Sky Glass and Stream devices, allowing users to easily schedule alerts for programs in the TV guide. Users can simply navigate to the show they wish to watch, select “Set a reminder,” and receive a notification when the show starts.

A new method of controlling the TV has been introduced. Users of Sky Glass and Stream can now utilize the digital Sky remote app on iOS and Android to manage their viewing experience. The app enables quick access to favorite shows, channel changes, and playback control with a simple tap. Additionally, the app offers built-in accessibility features like screen reader support.

Sky has streamlined its settings menu for easier access. Users can now access settings more conveniently by pressing the three dots on the Sky remote and scrolling right. The company has relocated the quick access menu for faster navigation to settings related to picture and sound, parental controls, accessibility, and more.

The update also brings a range of new accessibility features, including an upgraded voice guidance experience that allows customers to adjust the voice guidance speed. Other accessibility features include high contrast settings in Sky apps, magnification mode for zooming in up to 400%, and on-demand audio description for Sky on-demand shows.
