Sky TV users are in for a disappointment as one of their latest offerings, Sky Live, is set to be discontinued starting next month. Launched in 2023, Sky Live was promoted as a revolutionary entertainment device for TV users. This innovative accessory connects to Sky’s Glass TV and introduces various interactive features through motion sensors and a built-in camera.
For a monthly subscription fee of £6, users could access interactive games like Fruit Ninja, Stingray Karaoke, and Peppa Pig: Jump and Giggle. Additionally, the device offered a unique way to engage in home fitness activities by monitoring posture and technique. It also facilitated Zoom calls and allowed users to connect with friends and family to watch content such as Sky Sports together via the camera.
Despite its advanced features, Sky Live did not meet the expected popularity levels. Consequently, the plug will be pulled on December 4, rendering the device non-functional after that date. However, Sky assures users that games like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will still be available without the need for an extra subscription.
A spokesperson from Sky emphasized their commitment to innovation and highlighted recent advancements in their product range, including faster broadband speeds and enhanced TV experiences. While acknowledging the value of Sky Live in their product development journey, the focus is now on delivering faster, user-friendly products, top-notch content, and exceptional service.
Customers who purchased Sky Live will receive refunds, and affected individuals can expect email notifications regarding the changes. Additionally, users who bought the accessory will have the option to return it for a refund with free postage.
