“Pennsylvania Man Faces Charges After Wife’s Decomposed Body Found”

Published:

A man in Pennsylvania, Michael Mikula, faced charges related to the discovery of his deceased wife in their home. The police found the body of Sharlene Mikula, who had passed away at the age of 66, after conducting a wellness check at their residence in South Londonderry Township. Authorities accused Mikula of hiding his wife’s corpse for an extended period, which remained unnoticed for at least a month.

Upon responding to the property on April 14, officers found Mrs. Mikula’s body in an advanced state of decomposition. Mikula initially denied her presence but later admitted to her passing, claiming he had not committed any wrongdoing. Investigators are yet to determine the cause of Mrs. Mikula’s death due to the challenging circumstances presented by the decomposition of the body.

Mikula allegedly misled the police through a doorbell communication system, initially stating that his wife was not at home. However, upon further inspection, officers discovered her deceased in their bedroom. The coroner’s office stated that conclusive results on Mrs. Mikula’s death could take up to three months to obtain. Mikula was charged with neglect resulting in death for failing to seek medical assistance for his wife before or after her passing.

The ongoing investigation into Mrs. Mikula’s death involves the husband, Mikula, who is currently in custody on a $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 23 as the legal proceedings progress.
