O2, the renowned UK mobile network now under Virgin Media, is spreading joy this holiday season by gifting millions of customers an extra 10GB of mobile data at no extra charge. This bonus is a significant benefit, especially during a time when many people are frequently on the move.
Eligible users will automatically see the additional 10GB added to their monthly data allowance, visible in their account and the MyO2 app at some point in December. Simply check your settings to view the complimentary data.
The extra data comes with no usage restrictions, allowing customers to use it for various activities like streaming movies, sending photos, or video chatting on platforms such as FaceTime. O2 states that this giveaway is a gesture of appreciation for being a part of their network.
The offer is applicable to all Pay Monthly customers, except those already on Unlimited plans or business tariffs. If you are on a standard monthly plan without unlimited data, you can expect your festive bonus to arrive soon.
Christian Hindennach, the Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Media O2, expressed, “This time of year is all about feeling close to the people who matter most, and we want to make that easier than ever. With this 10GB data boost, our customers can enjoy streaming festive films, gaming, or video calling friends and family they can’t be with. It’s our way of spreading a little extra cheer and saying thank you for being on O2.”
According to O2, the additional data could equate to approximately 20 hours of video calls, 2,000 streamed songs, or roughly four and a half hours of HD Netflix or Disney+ viewing.
This complimentary offer comes after Ofcom’s recent Connected Nations report, which highlighted that UK smartphone users consumed 10% more mobile data in 2025 compared to 2024, totaling a massive 1.2 billion GB per month. To put it into perspective, this amount is roughly equivalent to streaming 400 million HD football matches.
