Nightclub Security Team Faces Assault Charges

Three individuals who were part of the security team at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that resulted in serious injuries to a player from the Winnipeg Sea Bears earlier this month, according to authorities. Teddy Allen was taken to the hospital after being attacked at the establishment in the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three security personnel, aged 35, 37, and 58, were taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, the police disclosed in a news release on Thursday. They were subsequently released on undertakings. Though the nightclub was not named by the police, it was revealed to be situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is presently recovering at home, as conveyed in a written statement issued by the team on Thursday. Expressing his thoughts on the incident, Allen remarked, “The assault ‘should never have happened nor should it happen to anyone for any reason.'” He added, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.” Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the event, including potential dashcam, security camera, or cellphone footage captured around the time of the incident, to contact the Winnipeg police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online.
