“Lockdown Lifted in Kensington Gardens After No Hazard Confirmed”

Published:

The lockdown at one of the UK’s Royal Parks has ended after authorities confirmed no threat to the public. Police presence was heavy in Kensington Gardens following reports of a suspicious substance near the Israeli Embassy. The Metropolitan Police responded to the discovery of suspicious items, including two jars with a powdered substance on Friday.

Residents were advised to avoid the gardens as a significant investigation was underway regarding an online video suggesting a group targeted the nearby Israeli Embassy with drones carrying hazardous substances. The drones were suspected of carrying radioactive and carcinogenic materials.

Armed officers, counter-terrorism units, and specialized personnel in protective gear searched the area, including divers from the underwater search team near the Round Pond. The London Fire Brigade deployed fire investigation dogs trained to detect chemicals or accelerants.

A large police cordon and warning signs marked the park’s perimeter as a precaution. Authorities confirmed on Saturday that the substances found were non-hazardous, though the investigation is ongoing. Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London reassured the public of continued efforts to determine any connection to the online video.

While the Israeli Embassy was unharmed, collaboration between authorities and the embassy’s security team remains to ensure safety. The public is urged to report any suspicious activities to the police and can contact emergency services at 999.
