A wealthy trophy hunter met his demise when he was fatally attacked by a group of enraged elephants while on a hunt for antelope in Africa.
Ernie Dosio, a vineyard owner known for his collection of exotic animal heads in his California home, was tragically trampled to death by the elephants during a hunting expedition in Gabon. Dosio, a veteran hunter, was pursuing a yellow backed duiker when the elephants unexpectedly turned hostile.
The elephants, known as the largest terrestrial animals globally, swiftly attacked Dosio and his professional hunter in the dense forest, leading to Dosio’s untimely death. Despite efforts to defend himself with a shotgun, Dosio succumbed to the violent attack.
Dosio’s body is currently in the process of being repatriated to California by the US Embassy. He leaves behind his partner, Betty, and two children. Dosio was the owner of Pacific AgriLands Inc, a vineyard company in Modesto, managed by his son, Jeff, who produces a significant portion of Californian wines. His other son, Blake, is also involved in the family business.
A representative from a safari company confirmed the tragic incident, mentioning the encounter with the elephants during the hunt for the duiker. Dosio was well-known in hunting circles and was actively involved in conservation efforts and charitable work.
