A British visitor was swiftly taken to the hospital after plunging from the second story of his Lanzarote hotel into a shallow fish pond containing Koi carp and terrapins. Emergency personnel rescued the vacationer at the H10 Rubicon Horizons Collection in Playa Blanca.
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Saturday, with the man falling into the 15-inch deep fish pond located two floors below the street level adjacent to a hotel buffet restaurant. Sources revealed that the 70-year-old tourist was with his wife on the second floor when he leaned over to observe the fish pond, leading to his accidental fall.
Upon the arrival of firefighters, medical staff had already secured the elderly tourist with a neck brace and transferred him out on a rescue board before transporting him to an awaiting ambulance. He was subsequently taken to Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, Lanzarote, although his current medical condition remains undisclosed.
Following the incident, local police and Civil Guard officers were activated by a regional government emergency response coordination center. The hotel, previously known as the H10 Rubicon Palace, declined to provide further details citing client confidentiality.
Described as an exclusive five-star resort with a design inspired by Lanzarote, the seafront adults-only establishment in Playa Blanca is a favored destination for British travelers.
