“Anthony Joshua Returns to Training After Tragic Accident”

Published:

Eddie Hearn has updated on Anthony Joshua, who has returned to training weeks after a tragic car accident claimed the lives of two close friends. Joshua, 36, was in a serious crash in Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of his friends and team members, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami.

Despite only sustaining minor injuries, Joshua narrowly escaped death by swapping seats before the accident. Recently, the former two-time heavyweight champion was seen back in the gym, resuming training in Dubai.

Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter at Matchroom Boxing, met with Joshua and shared a post on Instagram, praising Joshua’s resilience and strength during this challenging time. Hearn acknowledged the weight of the loss Joshua is facing and emphasized the need for him to take the necessary time to recover.

Following the accident, doubts loomed over Joshua’s future in boxing. Hearn mentioned that Joshua would be taking an extended break from the sport, emphasizing the importance of allowing Joshua the space and time to heal before making any decisions about his career.

Joshua has yet to publicly address the speculation surrounding his boxing future. Instead, he expressed gratitude for the support received and honored his late friends in a heartfelt social media post earlier this month.

Legal proceedings against Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver involved in the accident, will resume on Tuesday. Kayode faces charges related to the fatal crash, including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid license.
