Some Android device users are facing a concerning issue where their phone batteries are depleting rapidly even when not actively in use. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update. Reports have surfaced on various forums indicating the frustration experienced by users, with one individual mentioning the need to charge their phone multiple times a day to maintain battery life.
The battery drain bug appears to be affecting Google’s Pixel phone series, with the tech company acknowledging the issue and working on a solution.
Among the impacted devices are Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.
According to findings by 9to5Google, the problem is linked to excessive CPU wakeups, causing the phone to continue running in the background even when idle.
Users have expressed their distress over the issue, with one person named Phil noting, “Both my Pixel 7A and my wife’s have been experiencing this problem since mid-March. The phones suddenly drop from 20% to 0, charge slowly, and lose battery while powered off.”
Another Pixel owner, Fz, shared, “After the March update, my Pixel 9 Pro XL started draining the battery. I now have to charge it three times a day. The battery depletes overnight even when fully charged before sleep, leaving only 30% in the morning. It’s incredibly frustrating.”
Nevertheless, not all Pixel users are encountering these issues, as confirmed by a user named Warren who stated, “My Pixel 9 Pro is not experiencing any noticeable battery drain. It was fully charged at 6:30 am and remains at 79% by 3:20 pm.”
