A 19-year-old woman tragically passed away following a dog attack at her residence, sustaining severe neck injuries, as disclosed in an inquiry. Jamie-Lea Biscoe was discovered by her father in an upstairs room at their home in Leaden Roding, Essex, where it is suspected that one of the family’s dogs caused the fatal injuries on the evening of April 10. The forensic post-mortem examination attributed her death to neck injuries pending further investigation.
The Essex senior coroner, Lincoln Brookes, received a request from Essex Police to halt coronial proceedings due to an ongoing criminal investigation. Expressing condolences, he acknowledged the profound loss suffered by Jamie-Lea Biscoe’s family, friends, and loved ones.
Essex Police responded to the scene at Long Hide in Leaden Roding following the incident at 10:45 pm on April 10, where Ms. Biscoe was pronounced deceased. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being responsible for a dog that caused fatal injuries and was later released on bail until July for further inquiries. The dog, identified as a family pet believed to be a lurcher crossbreed, was confiscated for breed verification through testing.
