“Vocal Tennis Fan Ejected for Disruptive Behavior”

Published:

A tennis enthusiast known for his vocal support of Emma Raducanu during the Australian Open has been ejected from the event for disruptive behavior. James Bray gained attention after Raducanu acknowledged him following her recent win. Throughout the match, Bray, donning an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately referred to Raducanu as ‘Raddo’. Despite his newfound fame, his cheering at a subsequent match led to his removal from the Rod Laver Arena for being too boisterous.

Bray documented the incident on his Instagram, where he shared receiving a 24-hour ban and a fine of $700 for his behavior. Despite being escorted out, Bray sarcastically thanked the authorities for kicking out a devoted fan. He expressed his confusion over the situation, emphasizing that his cheering was in good spirit and not intended to disrupt the game.

Tennis Australia confirmed that Bray had received multiple warnings before his expulsion, citing complaints from other attendees about his disruptive conduct. Victoria Police also intervened, highlighting a total of 21 evictions, including Bray’s, for various disruptive incidents. Authorities commended the overall good behavior of the crowd and expressed anticipation for the remaining matches of the Australian Open.
